Saxapahaw is a former mill-town set on the banks of the idyllic Haw River in the rural piedmont region of North Carolina. Originally settled by the Sissapahaw Native American tribe, Saxapahaw is now home to nearly 2,000 residents. Since the closure of the old mill at the end of the 20th century, Saxapahaw has enjoyed an economic and cultural rebirth, connecting its rich southern heritage with dynamic new initiatives in food, sustainable agriculture, art, entertainment, environmental stewardship and education. The Eddy

Airy, relaxed neighborhood pub serving globally influenced food & rotating local beers.  We love this place.

The Eddy was created with the intention of providing a comfortable space for community interaction in a central place in the village of Saxapahaw.  They place a high value on local farmers and their resources, in turn giving you the highest quality food possible.

Saxapahaw General Store

Your local 5-star gas station!  This is no ordinary General Store.  They've got what you need and a whole lot more. They are stewards of local foods, good wine and beer, nutritious snacks, and eco-conscious dry goods. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the food is great!

A beautiful two level riverside coffeeshop located in the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw featuring full service gourmet coffee and teas, espresso everything, frappes and smoothies and locally baked goods both sweet and savory.

Haw River Ballroom 

A beautiful riverside music venue set in the former Dye House in historic Saxapahaw. With highly engineered acoustics, and state of the art sound and lighting systems, three floors, a riverside deck and courtyard, gorgeous architectural detail, vintage furnishings, solar and geothermal power, climate control, and an idyllic rural river setting just minutes from Chapel Hill—there is just no other place quite like it.

Saxapahaw's arts & entertainment scene is active year round.  From The Paperhand Puppet Intervention to The Culture Mill to The Haw River Ballroom, there's always something amazing happening in this small town.

Freehand Market

Our immediate neighbor is a wonderful sustainable goods + gifts boutique.  They carry a wide range of products, from botanical incense to organic makeup, to refillable cleaning products, to hand printed apparel.  The shop is stocked with the goods of many artists who are local to NC and features several products made right here in Saxapahaw.

The Left Bank Butchery

The only whole animal butchery and charcuterie shop in the Triangle.  We're confident that you won't find another shop quite like this one. They are dedicated to sustainable farming, to the craft of butchery, the art of charcuterie, and to making these amazing foods accessible.
